If you own anything from Apple you have an inkling how smart Steve Jobs really is. Not only does he understand the user, but he understands that function and beauty can exist together. He has captured our imaginations and hearts with the first MacIntosh. When Mac was losing market share because Mac wasn't getting into the programming business; he learned from his mistakes and providing programing for people who really needed to work in the world. He learned his lesson so well, he bounced back and trounced on his competition with the introduction of the iPod, iTouch, iPhone and iTunes, and we're not even talking about the App store and the Apple stores (virtual and real).

Having said that, it is remarkable to me that Steve Jobs didn't think through, what the impact or connotation of the name iPad would have. Yesterday, as I was watching the conference via CNN, I was stunned when the anchors were discussing the name and the female anchor said, 'it reminds me of a feminine product.' I couldn't believe my ears. The guys pulled back like 'Yehw', we'll never get that thought out of our heads. I told Mrs. Ripley the story and told her it comes in three sizes, 16G, 32G and 64G. She replied, "the maxi pad."

I hadn't thought of that one. This morning the papers and internet are full with the jokes. I'm sure someone lost their job at Apple.  I'd switch the name fast. I'd call it iTab and be done with the constant negative image of iPad. It was also mentioned that Apple didn't buy the domain name iPad.com. Trash it then, Steve. We all make mistakes. The best thing to do is own up to it and then fix it.
